Scene 16

Vimeo, oh how you disappoint me.

Behold, scene 16. With rubbishy vimeo-quality. Completed in a week (takes a bow) - keyed, inbetweened and cleaned-up. Now it just needs to be synced up nicely with the voice acting and the 3D environment.

Over to someone else :D

Done.

Hurrah. All cleaned-up. Totally happy with volumes now.

Scene two is now animated - just need to work on the first linking between the 3D model of Edward and his 2D counterpart.

Trace Stage One Complete

Yaaaay. Have finished the rough frames for the tracing of scene two - remarkably pleased at how well it turned out. Few glitches with volume control in places but hopefully nothing that can't be fixed in the clean-up stage.

Should be up and ready for colour by the end of the week - actually on target! 'Rah!

Scene Five - The Duke

Done. Ready for Clean-Up. :) That's the whole of Scene 5 ready for clean-up and inbetweens! Exciting stuff. Production meeting with the team scheduled for next week, methinks.

Scene Two

So over Christmas I wanted to finish Scene's 5 and 2 so they could be ready for clean-up and inbetweens upon return in January. According to our mega schedule, I need to complete a scene each week in January (two in the last, actually) to stay on track.

Yup, it's nearing the end of week one in January and funnily enough, that's not quite the case... however, here's Scene 2 in it's entirety - it's pretty hard to make out I suspect, because of the number of levels.

The Duke ended up causing more jip than I would've liked, but I tried to keep his movements relatively simple, so your eye isn't distracted too much between one character or the other. This is the first time I've done character interaction before, as long as it's clear what's going on, all's good, really. Feedback on timing and stuff would be appreciated. :)

Anyway, Ta Da. Both characters need cleaned-up and inbetweened, so I need to go collar two members of my wonderful crack team... :D

Scene Five Emily

Beavering away through scene 5. Here's a few rough keys for Emily's level, reacting to edward jumping in. Obviously she's faking surprise, which is kinda subtle. What I'm aiming for is for that to be detectable from the animation on a second viewing, ideally.

I'm using a dope sheet properly this time and actually kind of enjoying it :D

Scene 5 Finished Keys - Before Clean-Up

Hey guys,

So just finished the Edward level on Scene 5 - keys that is. It needs cleaned-up and inbetweened. Unfortunately the crazy weather conditions here in Dundee are making it difficult to locate my crack team, as it's hard for a lot of people to get in. The art college was closed yesterday, which was severely unhelpful.

Everyone's also similarly 'snowed under' with work.

Ahahaha. See what I did there. Ah ha. Ha.

Ha.

Anyway. Found this scene majorly difficult to do. Took me far too long. Serious slaps on wrist. Well it's done, so now to crack on with emily and the duke.

Rough Sc 5 Part 2

Just in the midst of roughing out the second part of Scene 5 - so Edward's jumped in, now he's trying to get back up...

Kudos for Johnno for having the cool idea of the back of his waistcoat getting stuck over his head.

It's been an absoloute nightmare to attempt, but hey, think I'm getting there...? There's a lot to work on after the rough posing - a proper line of action on that wasitcoat, follow through on hair etc, but currently it's making me smile, which is a good sign.

Finished Inbetweens - Scene One!

I forgot how long clean-up and inbetweens take. It was very naive to assume that I could do it in a day. Nonetheless, here we have finished inbetweened clean-up!

The great thing about doing this whole scene myself was it's taught me a lot about my process and how I work, so I can easier relay this to my wonderful clean-up artists/inbetweeners from now on. Ie. Having done it mysef, I feel in a better position to be able to explain what I want from the crack team we've assembled. It's given me confidence. :)

So Scene 1 Duke, all done. It's now going to be blown up to a larger scale and retraced to enhance the line quality before we start manipulating it for the reflection/jewel effect. In that process the sash and medals will also be added -all courtesy of the wonderful Lyndsy. :D Lyndsy, I love you. You're a star.

Cracking on with another scene now, yaaaaay!
